Source: http://www.doksinet Mordovia State University in brief Mordovia State University (MRSU) is one of the largest universities in Russia, occupying the 19th place in the rating of classical universities. According to the results of the Russian competition “European Quality”, carried out by Independent Public Council under the Russian Ministry of Education, MRSU was awarded a laureate diploma in the nomination “Top 100 Universities”. Currently, the student body including all modes of study (pre-university, first higher, graduate, post graduate and further professional education) counts over 35000. The undergraduate students can choose from academic programmes in 73 concentration areas. Admission to Baccalaureate is open in 12 specialisation areas: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Studies, History, Regional Studies, Social Work, Economics, Management, Statistics, Zootechnics, Applied Mathematics and Computer Science. More than 4000 graduates leave University each

academic year. Department of Graduate, Post-graduate and Doctoral studies along with 14 dissertation boards provides research supervision for more than 1000 graduate and post graduate students. More than 175 full professors and 950 senior lecturers holding a PhD Degree conduct lectures and academic workshops. Academic disciplines are offered through following structural units: 12 faculties (departments): Mathematics; Biology; Philology; Foreign Languages; Geography; Law / Jurisprudence; Economics; Architecture, Civil Engineering and Building Constructions; Lighting Engineering and Technology; Electronics, Academic Skills College. 8 academic institutes: Physics and Chemistry Institute; History and Sociology Institute; Mechanics and Power Engineering Institute; Agrarian Institute; Machine Building Institute, Medical Institute, Institute of National Culture, Supplementary Training Institute for qualified specialists with a range of related faculties within the Interdisciplinary Regional

Centre for Further Training and Qualifications Upgrading. Mordovia State University has merged to operate 7 Research Institutes and constructed Centre for New Information Technologies, Internet Centre, Innovations Centre and the largest of its kind academic conglomeration within the Volga region - The Mordovia Republic Interdisciplinary Centre for Science and Education. Mordovia State University is striving towards being competitive in the international educational market. This is why efforts are taken by us in the field of restructuring and modernising the strategy of the University’s development. For this purpose several services were established or deeply restructured to guarantee the University’s sustainable development, e.g, Quality Management Service, Innovations and Technologies Commercialisation Centre, Public Relations Service. The Privolzhsky Federal Regional Center on disseminating the typical system of quality management in the sphere of education established at the

university in May, 2008. The University has been constantly extending its presence outwardly. The community of international students totals 150 and represents the following countries: Algeria, Bangladesh, Germany, Finland, Hungary, Estonia, US, Pakistan, Yemen, Syria, Cameroon, Nigeria, Tanzania, Zambia, Sri Lanka, Egypt, India, Sudan, Ukraine, Moldova, Belorussia, Armenia and other countries. Source: http://www.doksinet Several TEMPUS/TACIS, INTAS projects have been successfully implemented at the University as a member of consortium of universities in the Volga region. Researches undertaken by scientific teams of the university are consistent with the scientific policy formulated in the framework programmes (6FP, 7FP) funded by the European Union. Students and teaching staff avail themselves of study schemes and are regularly awarded individual grants of leading international grants providers such as IREX, Fulbright, CEU, Ford Foundation, Canada Embassy, US Embassy, French Embassy, DAAD, LOGO, EduFrance and many others. The economic faculty is one of the largest academic departments at the university. Its students body counts over 5000 students that can choose academic programs among 9 specialties, 3 specialization areas of

Baccalaureate (economics, statistics, management) and 2 Master degree courses (management and statistics), MBA program. There are over 200 teachers employed at 14 chairs, Economic Research Institute and the Center of Quality Management providing consulting and R&D services. For 12 years the economic faculty has been running the Presidential Program on training managers for national enterprises. The quality management chair of the economic department educates specialists with the qualification of “Quality management” and gives relative courses at other departments. The chair has a great academic and research potential that enables to be active in developing methodology and approaches to forming the system of quality management at the entire university. Teachers of the chair have work experience in the sphere of quality management. An expert marked by the award of the Russian Federation Government for quality, an assessor of the European Fund of Quality Management( EFQM) in the

nomination “Acknowledged Perfection”, an expert on expertising systems of quality management are employed at the chair. Mordovia State University expresses its interest in TEMPUS IV and would like to participate as a partner in projects that focus the following: • Modernisation of curricula in academic disciplines identified as priorities by the Partner Countries, using the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), the three cycle system and the recognition of degrees; • University management and services for students; • Introduction of quality assurance; • Development of international relations; • Training of non-university teachers; • Knowledge triangle education-research-innovation; • Development of lifelong learning in society at large; • Qualifications frameworks.
