“Ubers” in Bali and they are the cheapest, they aren’t very reliable. Best to get a Bluebird taxi or private car from the airport and when navigating Seminyak. We also use the app GoJek (a Bali version of Uber) which may be a good thing to download; a bonus is that GoJek operates like Uber Eats food delivery as well. We use it often as it is super convenient. An Indonesian SIM card can be purchased at the airport or at most smaller shops around touristic areas for about 100,000 rupiah and will give you 4G. The best suppliers are myXL and Telekomsel. You will notice as soon as you arrive that there are motorbikes everywhere. If you have experience riding a bike or want to learn, you can rent one for 100,000 rupiah (about 7$ USD) for 24 hours. The easiest thing to do is buy a sim card at the airport just when you get out of customs you will see a stand on the left that will sell and setup your sim cards for you and will save you lots of time. If you don’t want to purchase a

SIM card, there will of course be WIFI at the Trans and other accommodations, plus in most cafes and restaurants. We recommend Bali Bike Rental to get a bike reserved online before you arrive. Renting a bike in Bali is very simple; you can even arrange for one to be dropped at your hotel in time for your arrival. If you do rent a bike we advise that you be very careful riding around Seminyak. Wear a helmet (which will be provided to you when you rent your bike) and please don’t drink and drive. Also be advised that if you do not have a motorcycle license in your home country, you may not be covered by insurance. Double check before you rent your bike and be careful driving around. HEALTH The number one tip to avoiding falling ill in Bali Don’t drink the water from the tap. Water and ice at restaurants is safe in tourist areas so all good there. But Do stay hydrated; Bali heat can be extreme & jet lag and travel can be dehydrating. PAGE 3 // 9 1-3 NOVEMBER 2019 | BALI PAGE

The Monkey Forest is a popular tourist attraction but be warned, keep your valuables and anything shiny close and don’t bring any food into the forest! Ubud art market has great shopping as do the shops in the city center. You should definitely check out the beaches and cliffs of Uluwatu. Some of our favourite spots include Bingin Beach, Padang Padang Beach and Single Fins bar. Also check out Jimbaran for the fish markets on the beach and for a

drink at Rock Bar. Uluwatu also has world class surfing, located mostly at Bingin, Padang Padang and Balangan. OTHER ISLANDS Get a fast boat from Padang Bai or Sanur to the Gili Islands (Gili Meno, Gili Air & Gili Trawangan) or the Nusa Islands (Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Cenigan). Be sure to bargain for a fair price on the boats; you can get a ride to the port and take a boat from there for about 400,000 rupiah. Your accommodation can help you get there but it may be cheaper to visit a tour operator stand, found almost anywhere along the streets. If you think you might want to stay 30 days or more, you can purchase a Visa on Arrival at the airport for $35 USD. You will notice that in many places (particularly outside of

Seminyak) that there are shoes outside the door. The Balinese do not wear shoes inside their homes or in temples. If you see shoes outside a shop, coworking space or temple, be respectful and remove yours as well. If you’re buying souvenirs from a local shop/person or are booking an excursion, you can usually bargain for a better price. Some people advise offering half of what is offered, which will hopefully get them to meet you somewhere in the middle. Be persistent and patient but not rude; if something is handmade don’t offend by offering too little. Proper shops or items with price tags generally have set prices, as does food. Do not bring drugs of any sort into Bali. They have a zero tolerance policy and the death penalty is enforced for bringing drugs of any kind into the country. Offerings are small hindu offers to the gods that include flowers, incense, food and even money. The Balinese place many of them on the ground at many hours of the day; try to avoid walking or

riding on them. Source: http://www.doksinet DIGITAL MARKETING SKILL SHARE 1-3 NOVEMBER 2019 | BALI SEE YOU AT DMSS 2019!
